ethos make-up.
silicone and mineral oils
Silicone and mineral oils are deliberately excluded from our formulas. Both contain no active ingredients, but–at best–provide a pleasant “feel.” We can achieve the same effect with plant-based alternatives, which makes the skin silky smooth.
Here’s how you recognize the no-gos:
Silicones: dimethicone, trimethicone, trisiloxane, cyclopentasiloxane, cyclohexasiloxane
Mineral oils: paraffin, paraffinum liquidum, petrolatum, petroleum jelly, Vaseline
Did you know that even our mascara does not contain silicones or mineral oils? It was not easy to develop a formula without these ingredients while maintaining quality, results, and being easy to use, but we succeeded!
acrylates and polyurethane
You won’t find acrylates and polyurethane in our mascara either. Two substances frequently found in mascara. Acrylates are notorious for their potential to cause allergies and polyurethane comes from the plastic industry: two very excellent reasons to ban them from our formula.
Here’s how you recognize the no-gos: acrylates copolymer, ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer, styrene/acrylates/ammonium methacrylate copolymer, ammonium polyacrylate
synthetic emulsifiers
We omit these, too. Why would we even consider using them when natural emulsifiers do the job just as well?
Here’s how you recognize the no-gos: cetyl PEG, PPG-2-deceth-30, polysorbate-60
titanium dioxide, talc and silica
We chose not to develop loose powders that you need to blend first with your brush. It releases a dust cloud which you can inhale each time - never a good idea (especially not when ingredients like titanium dioxide, talc, and silica are in the powder). Instead, we made compact powders. They release much less dust when applied, making them not only healthier but more economical to use. To be completely safe, we omitted titanium dioxide, silica, and talc. (There is nothing wrong with these ingredients as long as they are not in powder form. In creams, they pose no problem).
perfume
Our makeup formulas never contain perfume. It serves no purpose and often causes allergic reactions, so we omit it.
beeswax
A product with beeswax listed in the ingredients is not vegan. To guarantee that we meet the 100% vegan standard, we only use vegetable wax. Our products are not tested on animals, which is such a no-brainer, we don’t mention it on our packaging (cosmetic testing on animals is prohibited in Europe anyway). Want to be 100% sure that a product has not been tested on animals? Then avoid products made or sold in China, where animal-testing is mandatory.
we like our critical side
RainPharma is known for its critical no-nonsense approach - and we are quite proud of that. Are you also deliberate in your choices and value transparency and clarity? Rightly so! We think that is only positive.
Have any questions? Ask us! We are happy to provide additional information about our products and explain why certain ingredients are/are not included in our formulations. We just hope that from now on you will look at cosmetics labels as critically as we do.
