ethos baby care.
Nothing is as soft as a baby’s skin. But that soft baby skin is also very sensitive. Did you know that a baby’s skin is up to five times thinner, and therefore more fragile than an adult’s? It takes a few years for your baby’s skin to build a strong immune system. That’s why we only use mild ingredients that respect and protect your baby’s skin.
pure nature
At birth, a baby’s skin is not yet fully developed. The epidermis is very thin which allows care products to be absorbed more easily and deeply penetrate layers of the skin. That’s why it’s so important for baby products not to contain irritants. In the weeks and months after birth, the microbiome is developing; it takes a few years for your baby’s skin to build up a strong immune system. By not overwhelming their delicate skin with harsh chemicals such as perfumes, preservatives, sulfates, and dyes, you are giving your baby time to develop healthy and strong skin.
every baby smells unique
Like you, we only want the very best for your baby. That’s why we use ingredients a baby’s delicate skin really needs: no scents like strawberries or apricots or the typical powder fragrance. Why should we harm their delicate skin with perfumes just to satisfy our own needs? After all, babies smell so wonderful by themselves. It may take some getting used to, but our baby line products have a neutral scent.
caring for your baby
Why we want to bathe a newborn baby every day is a mystery. Of course, it is necessary to care for and clean your baby daily, but a full bath each time is not the answer. We recommend washing your baby in a lukewarm bath a few times a week—no longer than five minutes at first. Bathing your baby in water too often and for too long affects the protective layer of their skin. This can lead to skin dryness, eczema and (diaper) rash.
Many babies suffer from dry skin, which can even be somewhat red and flaky. It’s because your baby’s epidermis is still thin and the sebaceous glands do not yet produce enough sebum to maintain the natural skin oils. As a result, water and other important substances evaporate more easily.
