Black Pottery originates from Colombia and has been handmade for years by the indigenous people of La Chamba, a small village in the Andes mountains. They craft and fire the pottery from clay entirely by hand. This pottery-making is an art form in itself, passed down from generation to generation. Moreover, Black Pottery is naturally heat-resistant because the clay comes from volcanic soil. In Colombia, this type of pottery is therefore mainly used in the kitchen, to prepare and serve dishes.
Especially for RainPharma and you, these cazuelas—the local name for this black pottery—were traditionally crafted in La Chamba, with respect for nature and local traditions.
why did we choose these Colombian accessories?
In addition to the unique origin of Black Pottery, Colombia is also the birthplace of Eric from RainPharma. Eric grew up in Cartagena, a colorful coastal town in the north of the country. You can recognize the city by its bright blue bay, vividly colored flowers, winding streets, and eye-catching street art. Since Cartagena borders the Caribbean Sea, people often suffer from dry skin due to the salty water and sea air. The residents of Cartagena regularly apply oil to their skin to prevent dryness—just as Eric’s mother did for him.
From this ritual, Classic After Oil was born: an aromatic skin oil you apply in the shower to nourish and soften your skin.
